You can't just sit around and wait for fun activities to come your way. You have to go to the fun activities--but then again you can't just go "out of the blue" and say I want to go to a class or I would like to volunteer. You have to plan for it a couple weeks in advance. What's stopping a person like me from being able to work? Parents for starters...for enabling unhealthy dependence. Another is transportation if you don't have the cash on hand.
Selective Mutism is a severe form of social anxiety. Some people say its refusal to speak in social situations. It's not refusal. It is not a choice. No one really understands a person like me or anyone else enough to have anything to do with. They just think "don't waste your time on her or him". Truth is we are just like everyone else except we just learn a little differently.
